MR. HARRISON EKPO ADDRESSING THE PUPILS AND ALL PRESENT AT THE EVENT. |
These crop of leaders in the Akwa
Ibom State Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party it now seems
will never cease to blow the minds of the masses with their out of the moon -
record setting social activism these days. The most recent is that of the
Secretary of the party- Mr. Harrison Ekpo who decided to robe the entire
households in his community; Ikot Udoesang in Onna LGA with joy as he stormed
the community primary school known as AME ZION PRIMARY SCHOOL, IKOT UDOESANG,
ONNA LGA on Friday 24th June 2016 to distribute educational materials and other
welfare packages to pupils, teachers, members of staff of the school and Youth
Corp members serving in the school.
The event tagged "Education Support Initiative" is first of its kind
in the community as the Village Head: Chief Kanubo Ekwere JP and the Head
Mistress of the school Mrs. Ekaete Sunday Ekim minced no words in affirming
this with joy. The Youth President of Ikot Udoesang Community - Mr. Victor
Inyang also reacting on behalf of the youth of the community thanked the
Secretary for such inspiring benevolent investment in the future of their
community and called on other leaders to replicate same in their respective
communities. This was equally echoed by the Chairman of the School Management
Committee - Mr. Spencer Umofia who expressed how grateful the school and
community was.
Mr. Harrison Ekpo while addressing the pupils, teachers and others present said
that the party he represents wants the best for its people and believes in
encouraging such from cradle to glory which is why he was doing the little
within his capacity to see that greatness is encouraged at every level
especially the young generation.
Comrade Barr. Ini Ememobong (The
State Publicity Secretary of the PDP) who accompanied his brother, friend and
colleague Mr. Harrison Ekpo to the event informed everyone at the event that
"there is and must be a point where politics ends and humanity
continues." Thus, politics according to him was over with elections after
which comes humanity, and that politics that does not add to humanity or help the
community in humanitarian dimensions is no politics at all. He stressed that
any society that desires progress must take education seriously and Onna being
a Local Government Area that has produced two governors - one in old Cross
River State (being Chief Clement Isong) and the present one in new Akwa Ibom
State (being Mr. Udom Emmanuel) could not have achieved such without education
which therefore makes it pertinent to encourage education in Ikot Udoesang
without which the people of Ikot Udoesang now pupils of AME Zion Primary School
will have no place in the Akwa Ibom of tomorrow. He reminded those present that
the difference between the rich and poor is education and that Mr. Harrison
Ekpo by this gesture was making everyone equal and rich through education so that
more "Clement Isongs" and "Udom Emmanuels" will spring
forth from these pupils.
The event was richly attended by the good people of Ikot Udoesang Community and
Onna LGA as well as friends of the LGA and political stake holders some of
which include Comr. Ubon Marcus (Former Vice President of National Association
of Nigerian Students and presently Supervisor for education in Etinan
Transition Committee) Comr. Innocent Udom (supervisor for education - Ini Local
Government Transition Committee), Mr. Ukeme Utuk, Barr. Ewa Okpo, Comr.
Ndifreke Bassey (Former Ibiono Ibom Youth Council Chairman) and ace broadcaster
Mr. Samuel Ayara who witnessed the Secretary give out exercise note books to
the 51 kids in Early Child Care, 35 pupils in Primary One, 27 pupils in Primary
Two, 25 pupils in Primary Three, 24 pupils in Primary Four, 26 pupils in
Primary Five and 21 pupils in Primary Six - all together - Two Hundred and Nine
(209) pupils. Mr. Harrison Ekpo the State Secretary of the PDP also gave out
school bags to the top three pupils in each class to encourage excellence.
While all the teachers, school staff and Youth Corp members went home with
wrappers and cash sums to encourage their resourceful roles in grooming the
future leaders. PHOTOS BY CARROT PHOTOGRAPHY. culled from THE INK NEWSPAPER.
